WordPress Developer
Clottware is looking for a motivated WordPress Developer to join us on a contract basis. In this role, you will be responsible for converting an existing HTML, CSS, and JavaScript website design into a fully functional custom WordPress classic theme. The website is an e-commerce platform, so familiarity with WooCommerce and related plugins is essential.
You won’t be working alone — we believe in collaboration. You’ll join a small team and participate in two scheduled check-in meetings per week to review progress, resolve blockers, and align with our development goals. This contract role is ideal for someone who understands the WordPress ecosystem, has a fair understanding of PHP and theme architecture, and can bring ideas to life quickly.
This is not a junior or perfect expert role — if you can build WordPress themes, work with teams, and are open to feedback, you’re exactly who we want.

- Position: Freelance WordPress Developer (Remote, Contract Basis)
- Level: Mid
- Budget: GHS 1,500 – 2,000
- Duration: 1-month contract (with weekly check-ins)

What You'll Be Doing
- Build custom WP classic theme.
- Convert Clottware’s existing HTML/CSS/JS front-end designs into a fully functional WordPress classic theme
- Build out core theme files and templates: header.php, footer.php, index.php, single.php, page.php, functions.php, etc.
- Integrate and customize WooCommerce or preferred e-commerce plugins for online shopping functionality.
- Create and manage custom post types, ACF fields, and flexible content where needed.
- Ensure all theme parts are responsive, accessible, and SEO-friendly
- Test across major browsers and devices to ensure consistency.
- Participate in weekly sprint meetings (2x/week) for updates and collaboration.
- Work with Git (or preferred version control) for code versioning and smooth handoffs.
- Deliver project on time and be available for handover and final support.
Requirements
- Proven experience in building custom WordPress themes.
- Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
- Experience with WordPress coding standards and best practices.
- Familiarity with popular page builders (e.g., Elementor, WPBakery) is a plus.
- Ability to convert static HTML/CSS/JS designs into dynamic WordPress theme components (headers, footers, loops, single, archive, etc.).
- Experience integrating with WooCommerce or other major WordPress e-commerce plugins.
- Familiarity with custom post types, custom fields (ACF preferred), and WordPress templating hierarchy.
- Ability to create responsive, optimized, and cross-browser compatible layouts.
- Basic understanding of version control (Git preferred).
- Must be comfortable working collaboratively with a team and attending scheduled review meetings (twice weekly).
- Able to deliver within agreed timelines. We aim to complete the project within 4 weeks.
